‘I Already Know I’m Going To Fail’

Police charged Ryne M. Duleba, 26, of the 7800 block of South Kenneth Ave., with driving under the influence after his car was clocked going 45mph in a 35mph-speed zone near Cicero Avenue and Southwest Highway, around 1:23 a.m. Duleba, driving a Ford, sounded his horn at another car that turned into Denny’s and was swerving within the lanes, police said. Police hurried to stop the car near 88th Street where they said Duleba hit the curb parking his car. Duleba moved his hands “slowly and deliberately” as he located his wallet, officers said. Duleba allegedly told the cops that he was driving home from an Oak Lawn bar. Detecting slurred speech, glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol, police asked if he had been drinking, reports said. Responding that he had been, police asked him how much, Duleba responded, “too much,” police said. As the officer explained the one-leg, Duleba told them, “I already know I’m going to fail,” police said. Before taking the preliminary Breathlyzer test, Duleba warned police “I already know I’m going to fail.” Police said Duleba blew a .223 but would not take the test at the police station “for the record.” Duleba’s next court appearance is July 9.
