POLICE BLOTTER: Sneaking Into Fitness Club, Gorilla Glue

Oak Lawn police reports, May 28 through June 1.

SATURDAY JUNE 1

Members Only

A man was arrested after police said he tried to enter L.A. Fitness at 8812 S. Cicero Ave. without a club pass around 9:46 a.m. Police noted that Miguel A. Chacon, 45, of Oak Lawn, was already intoxicated by the time they arrived on the scene, reports said. An employee told police that Chacon allegedly tried to enter L.A. Fitness using another fitness club pass. After he was told he couldn’t enter the club, Chacon tried to buy a day pass. Told the day passes cost $15, police said he refused to buy one. While the employee was busy helping other members, police said Chacon snuck into the club. Chacon began picking up other members’ gym bags, telling people he was looking for his own gym bag, reports said. When the other members said to leave their bags alone, police said that Chacon pushed them. The members left the scene prior to police’s arrival. Chacon was taken into custody. He was charged with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct. He has a court appearance on June 14 at Bridgeview.

TUESDAY MAY 28

Knuckle Sandwich

Loss prevention officers at Home Depot, 4060 W. 95th St. observed a man placing a bottle of Gorilla glue in his backpack around 12:16 p.m., reports said. He was stopped outside the store and escorted back to the office. Upon closer inspection, the loss prevention officer observed a pair of metal knuckles clipped to the outside of his pants, police said. The metal knuckles were also found to contain a spring loaded blade that opened with a button on the handle. Patrick Carroll, 28, of the 5400 block of West Franklin Avenue in Oak Lawn, was charged with retail theft and unlawful use of a weapon. He is due in court on July 2 in Bridgeview.
