Improper Turn Leads to Warrant Arrest

Police stopped a car after the driver made an improper turn on to Cicero Avenue from 95th Street around 4:51 p.m., reports said. During a driver’s license check, police determine that the driver, identified as Asael Abelar, 37, had an active “no bond” felony warrant for possession of “dangerous drugs.” Abelar, of Chicago, was issued a traffic citation for an improper turn.


Stolen Appliances


A realty company employee reported that someone swiped the stove, refrigerator, and a washer and dryer from a rental home in the 4800 block of West 93rd St. sometime before 11:03 a.m. Police said it appeared that the burglar damaged the detached garage door by cutting out the lock.

Smoke ‘Em While You Got ‘Em


Employees at Jewel-Osco discovered $953 worth of cigars stolen sometime before 7:30 a.m., reports said.

Police said a woman approximately 18-22 years old was spotted on surveillance camera entering the store at 8801 S. Ridgeland Ave. around 6:09 a.m. The woman was followed into the store by a man wearing a black ski cap.

The woman was seen going behind the camera counter, grabbing cigars and stuffing them into a pink and white striped bag. The man was last seen on surveillance video headed toward the store’s greeting card section.

After stuffing her bag full of cigars, the woman and man left the store at 6:14 a.m. Police said the woman’s bag appeared to be bulging with merchandise.

The theft wasn’t discovered until 7:30 a.m., when an employee arrived to open the camera counter.

According to Jewel-Osco, the cigars had been counted the evening before during an inventory.
