Relative Being Questioned in Infant's Death

Oak Lawn Police conducting homicide investigation of infant found with "significant injury" in home on Sunday.

Police were called to the 6600 block of West 91st Street around 10:46 a.m. While enroute to the scene, police received information that an infant had sustained a “significant injury.”

Officers arrived on the scene and immediately began life support measures. The Oak Lawn Fire Department arrived and brought the baby to Advocate Christ Medical Center. The baby was pronounced dead by medical staff at 1:46 p.m.

Police said the child’s parents were not at home at the time of the incident.

Relatives indicated that another family member was involved, according to a written statement by Oak Lawn Police.

The family member was brought to the police station for further investigation. Police are treating it as a homicide. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has been notified.

Oak Lawn Police are investigating in conjunction with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.
