Shots Fired in Oak Lawn, Police Are Investigating

Argument in parking lot results in shooting at Cicero Avenue and Southwest Highway Friday night. Police say no one is hurt and parties involved are in custody.

At least one gunshot was fired in the parking lot between a bar and restaurant at the corner of Cicero Avenue and Southwest Highway in Oak Lawn.

Police were combing the parking lot on the northeast corner of Cicero and Southwest Highway. Around 8 p.m. Friday, police said a shot or shots were fired in the parking lot outside of Murphy’s Law Tavern on the 9200 block of South Cicero Avenue.

Chief Bill Villanova said no one was hit and that the parties involved were in custody. Villanova said there was some type of altercation in the parking lot and a shot or shots were fired.

Police closed off the middle parking lot and at least one shell casing could be seen on the pavement next to a placard with the number one on it. Evidence technicians at the scene were photographing and looking inside an SUV and smaller car that had been involved in the shooting.

A police source said that an off-duty Chicago cop may have been involved.

The argument started in the parking lot, the police chief said. Villanova said that investigators “were upstairs working it” at the and that no further updates would be available this evening.
