Trucker Saves Driver Who Slams into His Big Rig
Diesel fuel spilled from the semi-tractor truck's tanks.
A big-rig truck driver saved a driver who struck his truck in a head-on collision Friday in Blue Island at on Ashland Avenue near 129th Street.
Ralph Peterson of Riverdale was driving over a bridge when an SUV slammed into his truck. Diesel fuel poured out.
"I ran over to see if he was OK, to pull him out," Peterson said. "He was stuck and I tried to pull the steering wheel and pulled him because there was diesel fuel leaking all over.

"He was coming at high speed and I saw him cross over and I tried to avoid him and he hit me head-on, hit my fuel tanks. ... I just wanted to make sure he got out of the car safely."
