Choose Your Village Board Trustee: Candidate No. 2 Eileen O'Sullivan

Dist. 1 residents pick their next Oak Lawn Village Board trustee.

Dist. 1 residents were introduced at a public meeting Tuesday to four neighbors who want to represent them on the .

Oak Lawn Patch will post the videotaped statements of the candidates during the next few days.

The appointed trustee will take place of Jerry Hurckes, who resigned last month to go back to work for Congressman Dan Lipinski.

Dist. 1 residents have until Oct. 1 to email their village board trustee preference to Mayor Dave Heilmann at dheilmann@oaklawn-il.gov. In order to do so, you must be registered to vote in Dist. 1.

The mayor will take residents’ recommendations to the full board for a public vote that's tentatively set for Oct. 11.

Candidate No. 2 Eileen O'Sullivan

  • Mother of two grown sons.
  • Although a single parent, she says she didn't raise her sons alone due to the support of neighbors, schools and other programs in the village.
  • Helped lead a campaign to increase the length of class periods at Simmons Middle School.
  • Presently she's a home healthcare provider and cares for "an accomplished and amazing" 97-year-old woman who encouraged her to apply for the appointment to the village board.
