Election Rewind

Final wrap on Tuesday's elections.

Kudos goes out to the and his supporters for their public awareness campaign that brought some semblance of democracy back to Oak Lawn. After Tuesday, at least 730 Oak Lawn residents – perhaps a few more – now know how to cast a write-in ballot.

still separate Sodaro from Trustee Bob Streit in the village board’s "ain't over til it's over" 3rd District race. Even if Sodaro isn’t able to dig up six more voters after the Cook County Clerk canvasses the write in ballots, it has to be discomforting for the incumbent to know that half of his constituents don’t like the job he's doing.

I’ve seen most of the tapes from electronic write-in ballots in the 3rd District precincts and there isn’t a Homer Simpson, Mickey Mouse or “none of the above” among them. Voter intent was pretty clear and most even spelled Sodaro’s name right. Even a legal ace like Dennis Brennan will have a hard time finding votes to toss out.

‘Congratulations and Good Luck’

Quinlan had told Patch during her victory party at the on Tuesday night that Quattrocchi still hadn’t called her to concede the race.

“I called and left a message at 8:14 Tuesday night,” Quattrocchi said. “I said, ‘Looks like you did well. Congratulations and good luck.’”

Then again it was pretty noisy at the Goal Post. Quinlan reports that she did get Quattrocchi's concession voice mail.

Landslide Bob

There wasn’t any congratulatory cigar smoking behind , where Bob Streit had gathered with supporters to await Tuesday’s 3rd District election results, unlike the happy smokers from Carol Quinlan’s party that were outside smoking behind the Goal Post a few doors down from the Brew.

Although he’s still five votes ahead, Streit, Oak Lawn’s longest serving village board trustee, said he’ll accept the whatever it may be and hopes to be continue serving the residents of the 3rd District. Streit also said he'd reconsider throwing Sodaro off the ballot because it "energized his base." (See the video.)

At least no one was fighting.
