Readers Tell Lipinski 'Vote No' To Syria Intervention: Poll

Patch readers speak, now will Congress listen? Results of the 3rd District community poll.

Patch readers have spoken and an overwhelming number that took the 3rd District Community Poll believe that Rep. Dan Lipinski should vote NO to U.S. intervention in Syria.

Rep. Lipinski has since come out in favor of diplomacy, signing on as a co-sponsor to a bipartisan resolution. The congressman and others want President Obama to call upon the the United Nations to establish a war crimes tribunal to hold all sides accountable for atrocities committed in Syria.

This is in response not only to chemical weapons used by the Assad regime, but also reports of torture, rape and summary executions committed by both government and rebel forces fighting in the country’s civil war.

“We have all been shocked and horrified by the images of the violence taking place in Syria. The fact that children have been subjected to some of the worst of this violence cannot and should not be tolerated,” Rep. Lipinski said in a news release.
