Worth Township Hosts Annual Town Hall
Residents from Worth Township municipalities engage in civic duty at the annual meeting.
Residents from 12 cities and villages in attended the 2011 town hall meeting Tuesday night, where they swore in Moderator Ron Johnson, a retired lawyer from Oak Lawn.
Township Clerk Thomas “Bud” Gavin, now in his eight term, noted that townships are the oldest form of government in the U.S. Worth is comprised of the communities of Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, Hometown, Chicago Ridge, Worth, Alsip Merrionette Park and sections of Blue Island, Robbins, Crestwood, Palos Heights and Bridgeview.
Established 162 years ago, all 32 square miles of Worth Township existed before “Oak Lawn was called [in the 1850s],” he added.

On the agenda were annual fund reports, the treasurer's report, a declaration of broken or outdated property and the hiring of a certified public accountant to audit each of the funds.

The General Town Fund has a balance of roughly $463,000

The Road and Bridge Fund has a balance of roughly $646,000
