Queen of Peace and St. Laurence High Schools Gather for Liturgy

Burbank, IL –December 19, 2013 – In the spirit of living out the Dominican value of building community Queen of Peace High School and St. Laurence High School gathered on December 10th to celebrate two Marian Feasts-the Feast of the Immaculate Conception as well as the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Bishop Rojas was the main Celebrant at the Liturgy.    It was a great opportunity for the students from both schools to share their gifts and talents in music, singing, and participation in this celebration.  The St. Laurence Band and the Queen of Peace Choir played and sung in the liturgy. Bishop Rojas emphasized in his homily that Advent is a time for us to open our hearts fully to God in order to prepare for Christmas.

Christmas is about God’s presence entering into the world and into our lives. Bishop Rojas reminded us that Mary opened her heart and said yes to God.  Bishop Rojas challenged each of us to seek out the true meaning of Christmas.  He was grateful to be able to celebrate the liturgy together and ended the mass with a blessing.
