Moraine Valley Hosting Open House For Unemployed Workers, Veterans

The Wal-Mart Brighter Futures Program at Moraine Valley Community College is hosting a free open house for unemployed workers and unemployed veterans on Thursday, Oct. 21, from 1 to 4 p.m., in the Moraine Business and Conference Center, on campus, 9000 W. College Pkwy., Palos Hills.

Eligible participants in the Wal-Mart Brighter Futures Program receive financial assistance for tuition, books, fees, and other educational-related expenses.

Attendees at the open house can learn more about the Wal-Mart grant from guest speakers, network with current grant participants, meet with employers, and submit applications to the Wal-Mart Brighter Futures Program for the spring 2011 semester. Moraine Valley representatives also will be available to provide general information and answer questions about the college.

Program participants include the Illinois Department of Human Services, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and Moraine Valley's Workforce Development and Community Services, Job Resource Center, Bookstore, and Combat to College student veteran organization.

The open house is sponsored and funded by the Wal-Mart grant in partnership with the League for Innovation in the Community College and Moraine Valley.
