Southland Model Railroad Show

Richards High School will host its 10th annual Southland Model Railroad Show on Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14.

Richards, located at 10601 S. Central Avenue in Oak Lawn, will host the event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.  Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens 65 and older, and free for children under age 12.  Parking is free.

The train show includes many model train displays and operating layouts, Lego trains, and a children’s activities area.  Last year, 23 area model railroad clubs displayed layouts.

This year, The Prairie Scale group will have a riding train for both kids and adults. With the price of admission, any adult can ride the train once.

Additional tickets can be purchased for $1. A child’s ticket (12 and under) is good for three children’s activities, including the train ride.
