OLHMS Principal Tapped As New D123 Superintendent

Dist. 123 school board announces middle-school principal Paul Enderle as the new superintendent, effective July 1.

Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School principal Paul Enderle was named the new superintendent of Dist. 123.

Although Enderle had known for several weeks that he had been selected from a field of candidates, the announcement was made during Monday’s D123 school board meeting.

In addition to the middle school, Oak Lawn-Hometown Dist. 123 includes Kolmar, Sward, Covington, Hannum and Hometown elementary schools.

Dist. 123 school board members unanimously approved Enderle’s appointment. He assumes his new role effective July 1. D123 school board president Joe Sorrentino stated in a news release:

"Mr. Enderle brings great experience and expertise not only in the excellent educational leadership he has demonstrated in his administrative role over the past ten years in our district, but also in his knowledge and connection with the broader Oak Lawn and Hometown communities. The board is proud to announce his appointment, and we look forward to the manner in which Mr. Enderle will continue moving our district forward through his skills as a leader."

Enderle said he hopes to continue carrying out the district's five-year technology plan started by the Now in its second year, students at all five-district schools have been equipped with iPads or netbooks.

“I envision Dist. 123 to be a lighthouse district leading in the field of education and innovation in 21st century learning,” Enderle said by phone Monday night. “These aren’t teaching techniques, this is what students need in the future to be successful citizens. That’s our goal."

The superintendent-appointee includes four years as building principal leading Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School. Prior to that, he served six years as an assistant pincipal in Dist. 123, and spent ten years as an administrator and classroom teacher for another district.

He holds a master’s in educational leadership and a bachelor’s in teacher education from Concordia University. He is currently pursuing his doctorate from Concordia University in educational leadership, district officials said. Enderle currently resides in Oak Lawn.

“It’s nice being able to serve in the community where I live,” Enderle said. “It brings a very well rounded perspective. I look forward to leading the schools.”
