Athlete of the Week: Richards Roars to Successful Week Behind Rores

Girls soccer junior Desiree Rores scores four goals and has four assists to lead the Bulldogs to a 4-1 week.

The Richards girls soccer team is figuring out its formula for success.

After an 0-7 start to the season, the Bulldogs went 4-1 this past week. Junior Desiree Rores scored four goals and had four assists to lead Richards, which capped the week off with a consolation championship at the Reavis Invite on Saturday.

“We started out a little rough because there are a lot of new people,” Rores said of the season. “After we started to get together and practice more, we got a lot better working together.”

Richards defeated Queen of Peace 2-0 Saturday afternoon to claim the championship. Rores scored twice despite the wind and rain.

“This past week was amazing,” Rores said. “Everybody really brought it. It was nice to see everybody go all out.”
