Gimme 5: Oak Lawn's DeLatorre Has Spartans Going in Right Direction Now

Senior midflielder Liz DeLatorre reflects on a humble beginning, eyes a college soccer career.

Oak Lawn left mid-fielder Liz DeLatorre is an integral part of the Spartan girls soccer team. From the way she started her soccer career, however, one might not have guessed she would have made it to this point.

DeLatorre played in her first game at the age of 9. When she started, a key part of the game was lost to her: she was trying to score on the wrong goal.

“I had no idea what I was doing,” DeLatorre said in light-hearted reflection.

Now, DeLatorre is a senior on the Oak Lawn girls soccer team. She is playing a crucial role in resurrecting a program that is on the upswing after a rough season two years ago. Last season, DeLatorre scored five goals. She’s looking to improve upon that total this season.

She also is looking to play at Benedictine University in Lisle next year, where she is considering studying child care.
