Gimme 5: Oak Lawn's No. 1 Singles Player Stays One Step Ahead of His Brother
Oak Lawn tennis standout Marcin Szczepaniak is the older of two brothers. Both have enjoyed great seasons so far for the Spartans.
The Szczepaniak brothers at Oak Lawn form a dynamic duo for the Spartan tennis team. Older brother Marcin, a junior, plays No. 1 singles, while Andy, a freshman, is right behind him at No. 2.

Marcin uses the competition from Andy to his advantage. “He always motivates me to do better because I don’t want him to catch up,” Marcin says of his brother.

The Szczepaniaks come from an athletic family. Their parents moved to the United States from Poland when they were young. Their father was a biathlete in Poland, the sport that combines cross-country skiing and target shooting.
Marcin plans on playing tennis in college, and he’s starting to receive interest from schools.
