On His Game: Gil Blossoms Into Oak Lawn Soccer Do-It-All Player
The third-year varsity player Jakub Gill has provided stability in Oak Lawn's defense and even some scoring punch in the Spartan attack.
When soccer teams go through scoring droughts, it's normal for a coach to think of making a switch at forward. But it's unusual for that switch to be with a defender.
Yet, that's exactly what Oak Lawn soccer coach Nate Joiner was thinking when Oak Lawn started the season with four straight scoreless affairs. Third-year varsity player Jakub Gil would've been one of the options.
"Jakub's really versatile, we can put him in anywhere on the field," Joiner said.

But the Spartans responded with 14 goals in their next three matches and Gil, a junior, scored two from his left fulback position.
"Jakub's just a tough, good player," Joiner said. "He's got a lot of skills."
