Richards Drama Department Offers Free Play for Seniors

Admission is free. Richards is located at 10601 S. Central
Avenue.

This interactive production is a parody of the plays written by William
Shakespeare with all of them being performed in shortened form. Typically,
actors use their real names and play themselves rather than certain characters.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 7

AARP Driver Safety (Series 1)

Drivers over 50 may be able to get reductions in their car insurance by completing the AARP Driver Safety course designed especially for older drivers. The class gets underway at the Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Raymond Ave., starting at 10 a.m. Class size limited to 30. Fee is $12 AARP members; $14 for non-members. Class continues at 10 a.m. Tuesday. 

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8

Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce Monthly Luncheon

The Oak Lawn Chamber holds its monthly luncheon starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Hilton Oak Lawn at 9333 S. Cicero Ave. This month's special guest is Tr. Jammie Story Time

Wear your favorite jammies and listen to stories, sing songs, learn finger plays and then go to bed. All ages are welcome. Free. 6:30 p.m. at the Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Raymond Ave.

The Oak Lawn Village Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. for what looks to be a light agenda at Village Hall, 9466 S. Raymond Ave. T public is encouraged to attend. Sorry, you can't wear your jammies.

College Planning Workshop

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9

Oak Lawn Farmers Market

The second to last farmers market of the summer gets underway from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cook and Dumke Drive. Wide variety of farm fresh fruits and veggies, homemade bread and baked goods, and interesting vendors are featured.

Free Health Screenings: Ask the Pharmacist

The Oak Lawn Community Partnership is offering free blood pressure screenings and other health-related offerings in the lower level meeting room at the Oak Lawn Library, 9427 S. Raymond Ave., starting at 10 a.m.

Low Cost Pet Vaccine Clinic

Spay Illinois will be offering low-cost pet vaccine clinics from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pet Supplies Plus, 8717 S. Ridgeland Ave. (by Jewel). Spay Illinois is offering the clinics on the second Wednesday every month, and on the second and fourth Sundays of the month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open to everyone. No appointment needed. Cash, checks and major credit cards accepted. Ask if they can micro-chip your pet.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10

'35 Years of Accumulation'

Free Identity Theft Seminar

Live Music Revival

Some of the top blues artists from the South Side have been gathering at SIP Appetizer and Grill at 4911 W. 95th St. for a weekly jam and live music revival starting at 7 p.m. Chill out with some excellent wine and appetizers, while listening to Samba, jazz and blues. Action Sertoma's Fall Festival


Action Sertoma Club, a club to benefit mankind, is hosting a Fall Festival at Gaelic Park, 6119 W. 147th St. in Oak Forest, from 6:30-11 p.m. Roasted pig, open bar, "fall into cash" raffle with a $7,000 grand prize, bean bag tournament and music by Sound Barrier are featured. $60 per person.
